At Harbour Cay Club

Beautiful, sunny days with temperatures in the 70’s.  We relaxed and got a lot of things done around the boat.

Tom and Jack at The Cone of Knowledge

Sunset at Harbour Cay Club
We worked around the boat during the day, but at sunset Tom and Diann joined us at the Harbour Cay Club tiki hut.  The tiki hut is also known as the “Cone Of Knowledge” since this is where all of the world’s problems are solved!
We went to supper with Diann and Tom at the Island Fish Co.  It’s our last meal with them for a long time since they are heading north on Tuesday morning.  We’re sorry to see them go.  We will miss them!  We greatly appreciate all of their help and advice on our trip.

Tom and Diann picked us up in the late morning and again graciously took us to Publix so that we could stock up.  We had lunch at Burdines where we spotted our first manatee.  We’ve been looking for manatees for months!
The Pigeon Key Art Festival was next.  It features paintings, photographs, jewelry, wood carvings, furniture, leather work and other items – all made by artists from around the country who have been invited to attend.
For dinner the 4 of us joined the Valentine’s Day party at Harbour Cay Club. The men fixed the meal – roast pork, lots of sides, and pecan pie.  Delicious!

A visit to Key West was on the agenda for the next few days.  Diann and Tom drove separately since they did not plan to stay overnight.  On Thursday we shopped on Duval Street, went to the top of the Crown Plaza for a panoramic view of the city, and then strolled Mallory Square for sunset.
On Friday we had lunch at an outside table at Caroline’s on Duval.  But the afternoon weather turned cool and windy, so for dinner we stopped at the Grand Café.  It’s located in what used to be an old Key West  home and features beautiful architecture.
On Saturday it was back to Marathon.  Connie and Phil left for their drive to Miami to catch their flight home.  We had a great time with them and were sorry to see them go.

We enjoyed touring the Marathon area with Diann, Tom, Connie, and Phil.  On Sunday the 6 of us joined the Super Bowl party at Harbour Cay Club.  On Monday we walked to Lazy Days restaurant for a beautiful sunset.  On Tuesday we visited the Marathon Yacht Club.
On Wednesday we had a surprise visit from more friends from home.  Deb and Dave Parker and Martha and Jay Watters stopped by!  They are vacationing in Sarasota, took a trip to Key West, and located us by checking our blog!  We had a fun visit.  It was great to see them!

Day 164  Harbour Cay Club, Marathon, FL
 Saturday, February 5, 2011

More work around the boat today, but about 6:00 Diann and Tom picked us up for dinner at Island Fish Co.  We ate outside right next to the water.  It was a BEAUTIFUL evening.  We got back to Dream Catcher about 9:30, and a few minutes later Connie and Phil Kassewitz arrived!  They had flown to Miami, rented a car, and driven to Marathon.  They’re visiting for a week.  Great to see them!  We chatted until early morning.  What a great day!
